New composition is called "East". This is an example of ethnic
intonation. PMStyle have calculated:
- Velocity changes
- Auto phrasing
- Gender Factor curve
- Pitch Bend gliding and melismas
- Noise curve
No manual tweaking at all!

Comments by Alexei Ustinov, CTO Jasmine Music Technology
In early April '98 I received an invitation to submit my
compositions to the PAE'98 competition (Austria). I then created
"Through Previous Incarnations". It consists of three parts in
different manners. Tunes of Part 2 and Part 3 (West
and East) are the result of harmonic and rhythmic transformations
of the Tune of Part 1 (One
Step Between Love and Hatred) done with Pattern Variator v1.0.
"East" is the final part of this old composition. All performance
nuances, as well as accompaniment tracks (Guitar in West and Drums in
East) were calculated by Style Enhancer, the only things done by hand
were Master Volume Balance, Tempo Changes between Parts, G.FretNoise
and Tempo Changes of Part 3 (East).
Unfortunately, back then, in April '98, I didn't have Yamaha
Vocaloid :-), but now "East" is a fully modeled composition: My
special thanks to Alexei Yakovlev for writing the lyrics!

"East" is the original example of Ethno music. Its standard
features show in the choice of the Major pentatonic key-scale base, in
rhythmic ostinatos of the Drum part and in mostly monodial type of
musical structure. Vocal intoning organically fits into overall sound
color palette, slightly reminding throat singing with some special
techniques of drawing vocal sounds used during shaman rituals. Thus, a
peculiar atmosphere of mystical conjuration act is created, emulating
the meditative immersion into the mysterious oriental world.

East
Tender evening sun
And soft warming wind
Taking me home.
Looking back I see
Snowy mountain side
Hiding my path in the dark.
Under orange trees
My old friend's bamboo house
In green vines
And
From the wooden gate
All his children are
Calling me in
And I join them.
I am glad to rest
To drink with my friend
And we sing a tune
To the moonlit trees
Finishing our songs
As the stars go down.
When
I sit like this
With my friend by my side
I can forget the world
Many roads ahead
Many moons behind
Are in my life.
And I start new day
Heading East, to the sun.
